Position Spotlight: Operations Analyst

Zainab is a Nashville native. After a stint in St. Louis, Missouri, her heart brought her back to the city where she was raised. Her academic background is in Public Health, specifically Epidemiology. Prior to joining Contessa, she worked in Clinical Quality at PhyMed Healthcare Group. She joined Contessa as an Operations Analyst earlier this year. In her free time, she enjoys fitness, baking, and hiking in all the amazing spots Tennessee has to offer.

What does an Operations Analyst do at Contessa?

An Operations Analyst works closely with the Analytics team and the Clinical team to streamline clinical operations and business workflows. In my day-to-day, I often conduct data analyses and produce reports to highlight best practices across all markets, which are disseminated to Contessa leaders and external stakeholders.

Why did you choose a career in Analytics?

I chose a career in Analytics, specifically Healthcare Analytics, because I love the complex relationship between data and healthcare. The healthcare industry is rapidly evolving, and leveraging data allows us to continually improve our quality of patient care while keeping up with the current trends.

How does the work you do at Contessa differ from other analytics jobs?

The work I do pushes me to think outside the box when it comes to data. At Contessa, I am able to use the data that I work with to come up with tangible solutions that can be impactful in all markets. Not only does this foster my creativity, but it motivates me to know that my work assists in furthering Contessa’s vision.

What is the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is collaborating with hardworking and brilliant individuals on a day-to-day basis. It’s been amazing getting to pick their brains and learn from them as we all work towards a common goal.

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

The healthcare industry has become increasingly complex and dynamic. While exciting, it also presents a challenge when utilizing data to predict a certain outcome or goal. Things can change very rapidly, so you may need to roll with the punches and adapt when it is necessary. Often, the data you’re seeing can point to an entirely different solution than the one you expected to see. It’s important to not be afraid to dive into uncertainty in the realm of healthcare analytics.

What inspires you to come to work every day?

Working for an amazing company like Contessa gets me excited for work every day. It’s amazing to know that I am part of a team that thrives on both innovation and compassion. This combination is the driving force that will take Contessa far – and I’m thrilled to be along for the ride!
