Position Spotlight: Lead Recovery Care Coordinator
Jaimie Stevens worked in several nursing positions over the last seven years before landing at Contessa in the position she is most passionate about. When Jaimie isn’t working, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, stepsons and two spoiled pit bulls, as well as making trips to Colorado to visit the rest of her family whenever the opportunity for a long weekend presents itself.
What does a Lead RCC do at Contessa?
A Lead Recovery Care Coordinator serves as a consistent resource for the Recovery Care Coordinators (RCC), providing clinical support, workflow training and advice and a willingness to jump in and help with RCC tasks on a busy day. It is important to me that the RCC’s at Allegheny Health Network know they always have someone to go to for questions or assistance and that they feel satisfied and supported in their roles.
Why did you choose a career in nursing?
Healthcare is a field that is always changing and always presenting opportunities to improve the lives of others. I have always loved feeling like I am making a difference and helping someone else, which is what drew me to the nursing field. Working alongside many incredible nurses in my previous nursing roles and witnessing firsthand the healthcare system led me to discover two new passions of mine: making changes to improve the healthcare experience for our patients and helping other nurses. My role as Lead RCC allows me to do both.
How does the work you do at Contessa differ from other jobs?
In my previous nursing roles, I noticed opportunities for change that would significantly improve the healthcare experience for both the patients as well as the healthcare providers. Unfortunately, it can be very difficult to drive change and be heard in such a large field. What strikes me most about Contessa is how we are truly making a difference and offering something new and exciting in the healthcare field that improves the patient’s experience so significantly. It is also incredible to work for a company where employees’ ideas drive change.
What is the best part of your job?
I love many aspects of my job, but ultimately the best part of my job is the people I work with. We have built a truly wonderful group of people in this market who all work together, help each other, and make it easy for me to love coming to work each day.
What’s the most challenging part of your job?
The most challenging part of my job is also one of the best parts of my job. Working with such an innovative and cutting-edge company can mean there are new obstacles to evaluate each day. Part of my job is to look at barriers to growth and to help figure out ways to overcome each one. It requires quite a bit of problem-solving daily, which although challenging, is a part of my job that I love.
What inspires you to come to work every day?
I am inspired to come to work every day because I truly believe in what I am doing. Our patients are so pleased to be able to receive their care in the comfort of their home, and I am happy to work with this team to be able to help make that possible.
