Getting better: Allegheny Health Network shifting hospital services to home

Moving medical care out of the hospital — a decades long trend — got a boost in a recent Medicare decision to pay for expanded services that are provided in the patient’s home.

Allegheny Health Network was out ahead of CMS’ decision by a year when it launched its Home Recovery Care program in 2019, a 30-day program, in cooperation with AHN corporate parent Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
