Employee Spotlight: Taylor Spencer, Care Partner

Meet Taylor, a Care Partner with the Contessa’s Palliative Care at Home program. Taylor’s manager, Donna, asked us to feature him in our Employee Spotlight series in recognition of his dedication and care in his role with the program. We asked Taylor to share some details about himself and his role here at Contessa, and we hope you enjoy learning more just as much as we did!

All about me

Taylor shared, “I have been working in healthcare for nine years. I have worked in an ER for six years in a Patient Access role, then as a Compliance Specialist in the Laboratory and now have been in my role as Care Partner for almost two years!”

Taylor discovered Contessa through his best friend, an RCC (Recovery Care Coordinator) who told him about the company and how he thought it would be a great fit and opportunity for Taylor’s skills.

“As a Care Partner, I have many duties on a day-to-day basis but overall, I assist with tasks to help the patient such as setting up referrals for physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), hospice, etc.,” Taylor explains. “I help set up lab work and radiology exams in the patients’ homes, get their medications delivered to their home and monitor the patients that are escalated as well as admissions and discharges for the palliative markets.” As part of these responsibilities, Taylor also creates spreadsheets to show the data for escalations, admissions, discharges and hospice admits.

“I am most proud of being here from the start and being able to help assist with building the Palliative Care at Home program from the ground up,” Taylor says.

Work-life balance: what’s life like outside of work?

Outside of work, Taylor says three things he can’t live without are his family and friends, five dogs and… ice cream! He also enjoys hiking, trying new restaurants and traveling. Along with these hobbies, he is also very dedicated to a unique hobby: clogging, a fun type of American folk dance, and holds seven National Championship clogging titles!

What I love about Contessa

At Contessa, Taylor shared that his team is “just like a family” to him. Even if they have different viewpoints at times, he notes, “At the end of the day the team comes together for one common goal, and that is making sure that we provide the best possible care to all of our patients.” He adds, “My colleagues are the best, because they are always eager to help in any situation and are always positive.”

Thank you, Taylor, for being such a great example of our values in action, and for sharing your story with us!
