SPIRIT of Excellence Award: Recovery Care Coordinator of the Year

Each year, Spirit of Excellence Awards are presented by our parent company, Amedisys, to select employees who demonstrate exceptional caregiving support to the field and display Amedisys’ core values, which include service, passion, integrity, respect, innovation and talent.

Our 2024 Recovery Care Coordinator of the Year award was presented to Morgan-Ruth Moore, BSN, RN, a Recovery Care Coordinator (RCC) supporting our Recovery Care at Home program at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Arkansas. Here are some of the wonderful things Morgan’s colleagues said about her in their nominations in support of her:

We are proud to spotlight Morgan’s achievements in this role, and we asked her to share a little more about herself and her day-to-day work as an RCC.

Can you share a little about your professional background?

I have been a nurse for four years. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) that I received from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Prior to working for Contessa, I worked on the neurology and stroke unit at UAMS.

Can you describe your role at Contessa, and what drew you to this job?

Recovery Care Coordinators specialize in the identification and admission of patients to the hospital-at-home program. I was drawn to this job because it was a new way for me to utilize my nursing skills while still interacting with patients. In this role, my care philosophy is that I try to treat every patient like they are my family.

Tell us about life outside of work!

Outside of work I enjoy reading, traveling, hiking, going to concerts and spending time with my family. I also enjoy going to various sporting events including baseball and hockey games. My husband and I have been married for 8 years, and we have three dogs and three cats.

What’s something you’ve always wanted to try but haven’t had a chance to yet?

I have always wanted to try skydiving or bungee jumping!

What are some words of wisdom that you live by?

Always treat people with compassion and kindness.

Thanks, Morgan, for sharing your talents and passion for caregiving with your patients, their families and the Contessa team! We are grateful for the care and attention you and other Recovery Care Coordinators like you contribute to advancing healthcare at home.
