Employee Spotlight: Kelsea Haibach, Recovery Care Coordinator

Meet Kelsea, a Recovery Care Coordinator (RCC) with Contessa partner Allegheny Health Network (AHN). We asked Kelsea to share some details about herself and her role here at Contessa, and we hope you enjoy learning more just as much as we did!

All about me

Kelsea graduated from Penn State University College of Nursing in 2014. Her first nursing job was in a trauma/burn ICU in Pittsburgh, and she remained a critical care nurse for years before transitioning to a Research Coordinator position with the Stroke Institute at the University of Pittsburgh. She shares, “Five years ago, I came to Contessa and never looked back!”

At Contessa, Kelsea’s role as a Recovery Care Coordinator is to transition patients from the hospital to their home through AHN’s acute or post-acute Home Recovery Care programs, ensuring that patients have a safe home environment as well as coordinating everything they need to receive their care in the comfort of their home.

Work-life balance: what’s life like outside of work?

When she’s not at work, Kelsea says “I enjoy being active through yoga, hiking, walks, and playing with my kids. I also like reading and watching movies as well as arts and crafts. Besides my family, I can’t live without coffee, music, and leggings!”

What I love about Contessa

Contessa’s models of care are a new concept for many people, and Kelsea explains that when she first heard about the RCC role, “It was like nothing I had ever heard of, so I was immediately intrigued. As I learned more, I realized that I too have a passion for giving patients the best possible experience and outcomes through innovative approaches.”

Since joining the team, Kelsea shares, “I’m most proud of my work getting our post-acute program off the ground at five hospitals in our health system, and my work with the recent relaunch of the acute program at Forbes Hospital. I hope to continue growing alongside Contessa for many years to come!”

Contessa culture from the perspective of a Recovery Care Coordinator

“Contessa is an inviting place to work!” shares Kelsea. “Even though we’ve grown so much since I started, it still feels like a smaller company where everyone knows pretty much everyone. I really like the transparency from the ‘boots on the ground’ up through the leadership team – it really feels like we’re in this together.”

Kelsea adds, “My colleagues are the absolute best overall, but the very best thing about them is their willingness to help each other and have fun while doing it. We laugh a lot, but we also get to help a lot of people because of our teamwork and ‘all hands on deck’ approach!”

Thank you, Kelsea, for being such a great example of our values in action, and for sharing your story with us!
